Springs Connect has been designing customized solutions for big data use cases for over a decade. Whether it is on-premise or in the cloud, file and folder based or streaming, we have solutions for your data movement needs. We cater to all industries that move big data, starting from media and entertainment to industrial, technology, banking, legal, and government. We are aware of unique concerns of each industry, and we bring complete solutions to the table. Typically an engagement starts with a free consultation session with your team on the business needs. We will then translate them into a technical solution for you, demonstrate the solution to your team if desired, procure the licenses from IBM on your behalf, and implement the solution for you. We will test the install to ensure all components are working as desired, and the whole system is secure, and that performance is as per expectation.
Challenges with Big Data
Data transfer with FTP or HTTP gets slower as distance between end user and server increases
Performance drops off exponentially as distance increases
Breaking up transfers into parallel streams useful only in certain use cases
Big data transfers using traditional methods become impractical over large distances
Poor performance when transferring large number of very small files
Difficult to detect “what changed” in synchronization of large data sets
Object stores have limited ways to access data; difficult to provide a “unified” interface to combination of cloud and premise data for end users
Industry standard security is paramount for business critical data
Audit trails are difficult to maintain with FTP or HTTP transfers, especially with retries on failures
Where does your data reside? On premise or on the cloud? Springs Connect can support workflows in both. With the increased popularity of the cloud, there may be features you would want to take advantage of, even if your data and workflows primarily reside on premise. For instance, it may be beneficial to use the cloud’s unlimited bandwidth for ingest, but then it may be desirable only to selectively move some of the data on premise for further processes to work on it. Cloud resources while easy to manage can often get exorbitant unless policies are in place to release the resources when no longer needed.
Present cloud and premise based storage on the same interface, transparent to end users
Transfer directly to object storage
Transfer-as-a-service available in most major clouds, most regions
Serverless workflows
Support for hybrid backend storage presented seamlessly to the end user
